Salty’s treat to Yelp!

Over the summer, I went to a really awesome Yelp Elite Event (Nautical by Nature) sponsored by Salty’s at Redondo Beach in Des Moines, WA. This was one of my first Yelp EEs actually. I’ve been to another Yelp event that was open to all Yelpers. This one was really impressive though. There was so much food from beginning to end, as expected even lots of yummy drinks.

Atmosphere: This was held on their deck and the sun was setting, right on the water. It wasn’t raining or chilly, so it really worked out well. We entered by receiving a name tag that was sea themed. There was a photographer (1000 words photobooth) taking pictures of everyone as they entered with a two spiffy backgrounds. Then indulged in delicious sea food! The only downside was there was not a lot of table space for standing and eating, so it was a little challenging standing with a plate, drink in hand while trying to scoop food..

Pricing: FREE

Service: Excellent sponsors from Bicardi and also the wait staff of Salty’s made sure to refill the food pretty quick.

Food:

Oyster shooters (not my favorite), marimba music (great live music to keep festivities upbeat and lively, but of course it would be lively with alcohol ;) ), fancy caesar salad in a martini glass, tiki torch

Wine keg white and red wine, crab legs (excellent, excellent! I probably had about 3 of them)

Cold juis (to be honest, kind of weird tasting), avocado cocktails. Not pictured are blueberry/raspberry mojitos with Bacardi rum. Also an iced tea station

More shrimp cocktail with lime and Thai beef skewers (actually really good, flavorful and tender). Yum.

Salmon lox bite; mac & cheese in a sea shell (I love how they incorporated the Nautical theme with the shell. Mac & cheese was quite cheesy, but also had a nice crisp outer coat)

Pulled pork slider with crunchy, fried onions (my friend really liked the slider, had a complete feel to it with minimal ingredients). And oh hey me!

Going next door to the MAST, marina with some touch tanks. Gorgeous sunset

Desserts at MAST, white and dark chocolate strawberries, creme brulee, assorted gummies of sea goodies. Not pictured: dessert chocolate wine :)

Overall: As you can see, there was an array of goodies of food, drinks, and even alcoholic beverages. It was such a great event, seeing some new and old faces. I can’t wait for another event like this to come. Great job, Yelp :)
